Samee Charity Ball
We are hosting our first ever Charity Ball in October in conjunction with Barika Events - you may remember Michelle from our Peoples Project video as she is the disabled entrepreneur who is setting up an Events company.
We are delighted to have her help and cannot wait to share with you all the things that she has organised ... we know that, when you find out how good she is, you will want to book her for your events too! She has got us some amazing raffle prizes and a few exciting things for our silent auction ...
We have also been working with her son, Shane, and he too has set up a small business offering printed corporate gifts ... we already have a teddy bear, coaster, glass tankard and so many other bits ... it is a real family business and we are proud to be part of it.
All the money on the night will go to support more people like Michelle and Shane on their journey so, please buy a ticket and come and have fun 😉

Recent research has shown that :
There are an estimated 800,000 adults in the U.K with learning / disabilities of working age - of which fewer than 6% have a paid job, which is often a part time role due to circumstances or abilities
Despite this, many people with a disability express an interest in exploring work opportunities.
One less-frequently explored option is that of self-employment.
DEBSS is here to help explore the route to self-employment and even small business ownership for those people with learning / disabilities interested in an alternative path to work.
We're here to assist the journey to enterprise with particular focus on innovation, business planning and development
On our site we will be putting resources, guides and tools to help people who have an idea for becoming Self-employed.
